What is your honest opinion on the Illuminati conspiracy?

I became aware of the Illuminati and other alleged conspiracies in 1967 when as a sophomore in high school, I read Rose L. Martin's interesting book, Fabian Freeway - High Road to Socialism in the USA.

I believe there is something to the idea that there are groups of people like the Illuminati, who share similar beliefs and who seek power for the purpose of controlling others and enriching themselves.

At the same time, it is easy to view everything that happens as the result of some nefarious scheme to control the world. Getting too focused on conspiracies can deflect us from what we should be doing as Christians.

As Christians who love God, we should be about our Father's business of preaching the gospel, showing people how to be saved by faith alone through grace alone, by Jesus Christ alone, without any human works being involved.

Here is a quote from a website which believes the Illuminati is taking over the world. Note that one of the primary tactics of anti-Illuminati groups is to link Illuminati endeavors to Satanism and homosexuality. I know many gays and lesbians. I've never met any gay or lesbian who was a member of the Illuminati.

It works hand in glove with the CIA and Freemasonry. It is Aryan supremacist (German is spoken at the top) but welcomes Jewish apostates.

It controls the world traffic in drugs, guns, pornography and prostitution. It may be the hand behind political assassination, and terrorism, including Sept. 11, the Maryland sniper and the Bali bomb blast..."

In my opinion, the anti-conspiracy movement is designed to part people from their money (a fool and his money are soon parted) by publishing books and websites and giving seminars on the Illuminati, Free Masonry and all the other conspirators.

No doubt I will be identified by some as part of the conspiracy because I chose to serve God instead of allowing myself to be distracted by conspiracy theories and seminars which give you nothing (fake information) for something (your hard earned money).
