Is it a Leopard or a Jaguar?


Beastiality is defined as a human being having sex with an animal. Like all normal human beings, I am absolutely against beastiality. Some mean-spirited christians, intellectual dullards for sure, compare homosexuality to beastiality. They assert (falsely) that committed gay or lesbian partnerships are the same as having sex with animals.

Of course, that is an illogical argument whose only purpose is to vilify gays and lesbians.

Five important reasons why
Beastiality is always wrong


  1. It is sex with a species too different and of different flesh.

    "All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds." 1 Corinthians 15:39

  2. It was implicitly forbidden in Genesis 2:18-20, where scripture points out that NONE of the animals is a fitting partner for Adam, the first human being, 1 Corinthians 15:45.

    "And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

    And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet (fitting) for him."     Genesis 2:19-20

  3. Animals are incapable of giving informed consent to sex with humans.

    "Informed consent is a legal condition whereby a person can be said to have given consent based upon a clear appreciation and understanding of the facts, implications and future consequences of an action.

    In order to give informed consent, the individual concerned must have adequate reasoning faculties and be in possession of all relevant facts at the time consent is given.

    This logically excludes animals from the ability to give informed consent."

  4. No reasonable person views beastiality as an innate condition, like heterosexuality or homosexuality.

  5. Human exceptionalism teaches us that animals are never orientation compatible partners for humans by virtue of the fact that they are animals and not human whereas

    human beings are separate from, different than and elevated above the animals, without being evolved from the animals. According to the Bible, as human beings we are far more than just another animal in the forest. We are a special creation of God.

Your comment is interesting but the original photographer labeled it a leopard.

As I understand it, leopards have shorter legs and are about 25% smaller than jaguars. What leads you to believe its a jaguar instead of a leopard?

May I say, as kindly as I know how, Your grasp of the concept of informed consent is seriously deficient. I do hope you are joking and not serious. If you are serious, I encourage you to get saved through trusting by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone as your Savior from sin.

20 of the 23 times hell is mentioned in our New Testament, the information comes from Jesus Himself. Hell is a real place and according to Jesus, you DO NOT want to go there so please, trust Jesus and get saved.

That's your rationale? If Jesus didn't mention something it must be okay to do it? Some of us stopped using grade school logic when we left grade school.

You just directly attacked somebody for their opinion. I guess they haven't taught you how to debate since grade school. You're supposed to tear down the person's argument, not their self esteem. Stop attempting to force your views down people's throats. If they disagree with you, there's nothing you can do about it by verbally attacking them and insulting their intelligence. Get your head out of the class and back down to Earth.

My answer points out that the commenter missed the mark. You will note that most of the people who post silly comments do so Anonymously because they intend to attack and disparage.

May I suggest that you click on the text links in my previous answer and take the Good Person test? It may help you get saved by trusting in Jesus alone as the One who already paid for your sins and then you would not feel compelled to despise Theists.

so I've been doing some research on the homosexuality vs. bestiality issue in Leviticus 18:22-23. the first verse reads "Thou shalt not lie with mankind... it is 'abomination'" and the second reads "Neither shalt thou lie with any beast... it is 'confusion'."

I looked up the definition of the word for "abomination" (to'ebah) and "confusion" (tebel) and to say the least, there's a huge difference between the what the two words mean. apparently, "to'ebah" pertains to idolatry, and "tebel" means an unnatural mixture

would it be correct to say that based on the definitions of these two words, that a homosexual relationship that does not fall under idolatry is permissible, but any relationship with an animal is unnatural?

Rick's comment: Yes, the point at issue in Lev 18:22 and 20:13 is idolatry, worshiping the false gods of ancient Canaan. Beastiality is always wrong.

thank you, Rick. personally I think it's reassuring that we both came up with the same conclusion about this. I've heard a lot of people say that homosexuality and bestiality were condemned for the same reasons and that it's wrong to use modern-day scientific knowledge to determine what the Bible says (e.g., the difference between paraphilia and sexual orientation). however I figured there must be some Biblical distinction between the two because the Scriptures used two different words to describe the acts

my dear op, isnt it interesting that you, a gay, see bestiality the way you see it? These people say they do not chose to feel for animals just the same way you claim you dont chose to feel for a fellow man.

You try to prove your point by bringing genesis into it. But the measure you use to condemn other people can also be used to condemn your act. When God saw that non of the animals was close to the man for the man to have as a companion, he did not bring a fellow man to him. Instead, he brought a woman to him. This goes to show that God's plan for the man is not for him to be with man but with the woman.

You try to twist genesis to condemn other people and when Romans is presented to you, you twist it and say 'no! Thats not what the bible is saying'.

I believe that bestiality as well as homosexuality is wrong. if homosexuality is right, why then was Sodom and Gomorrah burnt. Sometimes, many will alter the Word of God to suit their own purpose.It is quite sad and I dont know of one scripture which supports neither.

You know, I think Beastiality and Homosexuality are both wrong. As a christian,I have looked over the bible a couple of times, and it says in Leviticus 18:22, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination." It is a very straightforward scripture, and it really supports my claim of homosexuality being wrong. As for beastiality, you have already taken care of that for me. Also, just a little side note, I think that instead of attacking people for their opinions, why don't you refute their claims?

I don't care what race, colour, creed or gender you are anyone who has any sort of intelligence level knows it is plain wrong to have sexual relations with an animal. I happen to be a animal lover and there is no way in this world I would contemplate that sort of perversion towards an animal.

 Debunking anti-gay verses vs anti-bestiality verses

I'm at that stage in life where I'm questioning my faith and my sexuality. I'm bisexual and I do not believe that bestiality and homosexuality are the same, but I have a question. Human logic aside, what would stop a person who's into bestiality from debunking the verses in Leviticus the way that us queer people have? I mean, they're both listed as "abominations", and people who are sexually attracted to animals can interpret the verses in a similar matter and write them of as a matter of the cultural/ritualistic ideals of the time in which they were written.

Rick's comment: Hi Conflicted - That's a good question. It helps to remember that Lev 18:22 and 20:13 are NOT analogizing being gay with beastiality. Instead, Moses compares being a shrine prostitute with having sex with animals.

The anti-gay argument goes like this:

If homosexuality is okay as long as it's not part of idol worship, then incest and beastiality must also be okay, as long as they are not part of idol worship.

We answer that argument by reminding everyone that it is a specious argument - it sounds superficially plausible but is fundamentally wrong on the facts. The biblical truth is, Moses never mentions gays or lesbians, homosexuals or homosexuality. Therefore, the premise of the argument is intentionally false and misleading.

People who use specious arguments - fake arguments that sound biblical but which omit or ignore context so as to make their fake argument against gays and lesbians seem biblical - refuse to acknowledge context because if they acknowledge context, they know their arguments will not stand up to logic, will not make sense, will be seen as false.

As I posted before, having relations with an animal is plain wrong. Even if people don't believe in God or the Bible, anyone with half a brain would not be part of this perversion. Even in the secular world it is considered rape, Why? because animals can not consent. There are some places in the world who don't consider it illegal and to me that is a real worry.

There is something very wrong with the way their brains are wired if anyone finds this practice acceptable. The reality is they do not have a conscience and are classified as sociopaths. Food for thought people.

In the very same paragraph that sex with animals is condemned so is homosexuality. There is no loophole for the mythical loving and committed same sex union. I have never seen people try so hard to force God to accept their flavor of sin. I was born genetically predisposed to alcohol addiction and I was in love with it but the Bible plainly told me No drunkard shall inherit the kingdom of heaven! Please just ask God about what you are doing!

I would like to know if there is any source that mention bestiality as a way of idol worship for the people from canaan.

As in, do the people from canaan perform bestiality as a form of worship to their idols too?

Rick's comment: Leviticus 18 is in the context of idol worship. Beastiality was part of idol worship in Egypt where the Jews had lived for 400 years.

And, beastiality was part of religious worship in the land of Canaan, where the Jews were headed, after leaving Egypt.

For those two reasons, God warns the the Jews NOT to get into beastiality, by forbidding that in Leviticus 18.

As A kid I had mental problems such as anxiety, ADHD, abandonment issues and social disorders. I couldn't get along with others kids without being picked on or hit. My dad walked out and my mom was 15. So whenever I was scared I'd hug and cling to my stuffed animals. When I would get angry I'd RIP my stuffed animals...

The sad truth is I still struggle with this addition and I want help but I guess I'm brainless and all hope is lost for me.
