Strange emails - some clowns are NOT in the circus.

by Rick Brentlinger
(Pace, FL, USA)

From time to time we receive crazy arrogant goofy sometimes ignorant (and often just plain silly) emails from professing christians, most of whom are too lazy to study the Bible in context.

As time allows, we will post these emails as Comments on this thread. Here's a sample received on January 14, 2011. You're welcome to add your Comments if you care to.

"Depart from me you that practice lawlessness I never knew you. Those who love me keep my commandments (The law)" - Jesus

Paul is stating Christians are not under the curse of the law. That does not mean you do not have to keep his commandments. You must be insane to think Christians can keep sinning continually. That is called a hypocrite Pharisee!

Homosexuals and Lesbians are rebrobates! - Romans 1:26 - You better wake up!

Is this site and it's members a disgrace to Christianity, or an insult to Jesus and God?
by: Allegedly honest Abe

What is... They are both. :) No amount of word twisting can prove that the Bible is not against homosexuality.

That's like saying the Bible isn't against stealing, killing and lying. I know this won't get posted, but at least someone on this site will see it ;)

My sister is gay but she does not claim to be Christian. You cannot have both, that is contradictory.

Be Sure
by: John

I am always amazed at thinking like what I see here. Liberals and the Gay Christian Community have determined to "Make God in their own image". I suggest you be 100% sure of your belief system, otherwise you are leading vulnerable people down a very dangerous and slippery spiritual slope.

I demonstrate my ignorance and laziness by refusing to study
by: Brookss aka Disciple of Jesus

Answer how these verses of law do not condemn homosexuality?

Leviticus 18:22
Leviticus 20:13
1 Corinthians 6:9

Revelation 21:8 (abominable - cross-reference back to Leviticus 18:22. What is an abomination? A man lying with another man, just as with a woman is an abomination. And what will have their part in the lake of fire? The abominable!)

Please, how can you ever say you are a Christian and be gay, and say that homosexuality is not a sin! I rebuke you.

* * * * * * * * *

If you say being gay is not a choice, that does not nullify your sin anymore than it does if you can choose.

What can the clay say to the potter?
NOTHING!

Romans 1:26-27 - What else could it be talking about!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!? You people are insane if you cannot realize that it is talking about woman having relations with woman, and man having relations with man! You people are insane, and I rebuke everything on this site.

This is one of the sickest website...
by: D

This is one of the sickest website I've ever seen. The Bible is crystal clear on what God thinks of homosexual acts and it's abominable. You will never be able to justify it and you make me want to throw up.

Any sin is wrong in God's eyes and just because you may be bent towards being gay, doesn't mean you act on it or try and say it's all ok in God's sight. I hope this website crumbles and falls and I'm praying that happens so you don't lead people astray.

I'm appalled and am saddened. I won't even quote Scripture on the matter because you are blind and lost and it would be casting my pearls before swine.

I weep for these individuals
by: Stephen

My name is Stephen. I am 31 years old. When I was 12 years old I was sexually molested by a leader from my church. When I told the pastor he told me that I needed to get the devil out of me and stop trying to destroy godly men. Oh by the way I already knew I was gay and my father, an exBaptist minister had accepted me. He raised me in the Bible and he knew I loved the lord.

While I was being molested and feeling lower then snail slime, I thought this man was abusing me because I'm gay. I started dating a young man while I was in high school. I never told him about the abuse I had suffered. After a year the young man I was dating developed a heart condition that he died from.

Long story short, I was forcibly incarcerated in a change camp where I was treated lesser then human. I had to lie and they forced me to sleep with a female, as in, they were outside the door listening.

I still love God after all I've been through but I just find it hard to believe that people filled with so much hate for their brother or sister could truly be following God. I'm not judging any ones walk. Lord knows that there's enough of that going around these days.

My heart grieves the lives that will be destroyed and I pray daily for understanding and for the scales to fall from the eyes of those who speak with serpents tongues from honeyed lips.

bible versus
by: Anonymous

Leviticus 20:10-16

?If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. If a man lies with his father's wife, he has uncovered his father's nakedness; both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have committed perversion; their blood is upon them. If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. If a man takes a woman and her mother also, it is depravity; he and they shall be burned with fire, that there may be no depravity among you. ...

No one is perfect, He who is free from sin, can cast the first stone, therefore I cannot judge you nor do I want to, but there are many versus in the Bible that clearly state that homosexuality is abomination to God (a sin) The wages of sin is death.

No such thing as gay christian
by: Billy B.

First Name: Billy

There is no such thing as a gay christian. You fellows might as well talk about a "christian devil". ha ha. The bible is against your 'life style" no matter how much you try to whitewash it. Judgment is sure - play your games!

Your explanation is a bunch of BS
by: Francesca

Matthew 19:3-12 does not translate that way nor do Christians believe that eunuchs born that way were homosexual.

Just like homosexuals to try and twist the word of God for your own benefit. Eunuchs that were born that way were born without a sexual organ or parts missing. Jesus never said they were homosexuals. i don't know what Bible you are reading but God does not accept gays/lesbians.

Yes He loves them but according to the Word of God you will not enter the Kingdom of God along with all unrepentant sinners. Gays were not born that way nor did God create them that way. It is of the devil and totally demonic. It is s demonic spirit that has been passed down from generation to generation because of sin and disobedience.

The devil would like you to believe you were born that way so that you remain in deception and join him in hell. But God is more powerful than the devil and the demonic spirit of homosexuality and can set all of you free.

You just have to surrender EVERY area to Him, repent and sin no more. God loves you but hates the sin and will not allow sin before Him.

Fake question from ex-gay ministry guy, James Kjellin
by: James Kjellin

From time to time, I get emails from ex-gay ministry leaders who act like they're trying to reconcile being gay with what the Bible says. When I respond with a Bible-based answer, they jump me and let me know I'm going to burn in the lake of fire. Here is an example of that from James Kjellin of Reconciliation Ministries.

"How can you say that homosexuality is not sin when in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 The apostle Paul states that certain people that practice these types of sins will not inherit the kingdom of God. He lumps Homosexuality with thievery of those who will not go to Heaven. It plainly states that homosexual practice and lumps it with thievery, drunkeness which are sins. It's either all correct or it's not. I want you to give biblical proof, not david and jonathan or genesis. that text says those who practice these sins will not go to heaven. it's plain in the sight. How can I reconcile that?"

My answer to James Kjellin
by: Rick Brentlinger

Hi James- Thanks for writing to us. I'll do my best to provide a brief but helpful answer. When Paul wrote 1 Corinthians, there was no Greek word which was the semantic equivalent of our English word, homosexual. The word homosexual first came into use in the German language in 1869. Homosexual became an English word a few years later and was in some English dictionaries by the 1890s.

The Greek word, arsenokoitai, which is translated homosexual in the NIV, is never used in the Bible to mean homosexual. The NIV simply got it wrong. Arsenokoitai in the first century referred a shrine prostitute or a rapist; sometimes it referred to interspecies sex but never homosexuality.

Arsenokoitai is a rare Greek word. It only occurs 77 times in extant Greek literature from the first time Paul used it in 1 Cor 6:9 through 1450 A.D. I list the first 56 uses in Greek literature on my website. Arsenokoitai was never used in the Greek language back then to mean homosexual. Here are some Links which go into much greater detail.

You're headed for the lake of fire
by: James Kjellin

That's not the Gospel. I will pray for you and the people on your site. You are really deceived, God can change your heart and wash your sins away. The sin of Homosexuality is the same as thievery, drunkeness and can be cleansed. Romans Chapter 1 clearly says that men with other men and women with other women are sinful and perverse. 1 Timothy 1:8-10 clearly says that the Law is used for kidnappers, murderers, homosexuals etc.

If you continue to live a lifestyle of sin of homosexuality, which the bible says is sexually immoral along with fornicators, adulterers the bible says their part is in the Lake of Fire. Please fast and pray and repent of this wickedness and perversion. Even worse, you are leading others astray by your teaching. Thank you, James Kjellin

I respond in grace to Kjellin's ungraceful comments
by: Rick Brentlinger

Hi James- You didn't ask me about the gospel. You asked about 1 Cor 6:9-11. I provided an in depth answer (and links) which are true to the gospel, true to the Bible rightly divided and true to the Greek text and the English text of the Bible.

Just for the record, I am saved, born again, washed in the blood of the Lamb and I have eternal security. I don't live a sinful homosexual lifestyle as you allege. My life honors God, is Biblical and is focused on serving God by witnessing and leading gays and non-gays to saving faith in Jesus Christ. I've had three people get saved this year, two gay men and one heterosexual man. You may read the testimony of the two gay men at these links.

James tells me I'm deceived
by: James Kjellin

Sorry Rick, but you can't be a homosexual and be a Christian. It's like a fornicator or adultress saying I really love the person and I don't live a sinful lifestyle. Eternal security is guaranteed only if you endure to the end. I know I truly asked Jesus Christ into my heart as Lord and Savior to wash my sins in His cleansing blood and to save me. But I know this, there are a lot of people who say they are saved but live in adultery and don't see this as wrong or sinful. The bible declares Homosexuality as sinful because Romans 1 says it's wrong, 1 Timothy 1:8-10 says the Law is used for sinners and then goes on to name the sins which homosexuality is in there.

You are being decieved if you think you can be a homosexual and still a Christian. You cannot, same thing with thieves, adulterers, fornicators etc. You can't be both. It's yourself or Christ. james

My final remarks to James Kjellin
by: Rick Brentlinger

Hi James- I get so many emails like yours, absolutely certain you are right, accusing me of being deceived, yet you are completely incapable of discussing what the Bible says, in context.

Referring me to Joe Dallas is kind of funny. I was reading Joe Dallas back in the 1980s and even then, his ability to deal with facts and context were wanting. Joe impresses me as more of a bisexual than a gay man who experienced orientation change.

Joe answers some of the pro-gay arguments made by liberals who reject the final authority of scripture. He does not answer the arguments on my website and in my book.

Unlike you, I have studied the issues. I have read Joe Dallas, Robert Gagnon, Focus on the Family, Exodus materials and a lot more. For one who believes the Bible, their writings are not convincing. Only a man who refuses to study would find their words convincing.

I pray the Holy Spirit will open your eyes to the immense harm you are doing to your gay brothers and lesbian sisters. Your brother in Christ, Rick Brentlinger

Calling yourself a Christian doesn't make you one
by: Neal

Sorry, calling yourself a Christian doesn't make you one. Homosexuals, according to Romans 1, are so because of their rejection of true God. I have God's word on this.

Oh, I'm sure you have a God, but not the God of the Bible. God says men laying with men is an abomination. So, the terms "Christian" and "abomination" are mutually exclusive. No more argument to be made. -Neal

Homosexuality
by: James Kjellin

first of all, your comments about me being a clown are uncalled for, however that be it may. the bible is very clear in this area about homosexuality. Not only that but it is unnatural
The same as sex with an animal is unnatural! These are not my opinions, these are in the Bible.

God calls you from this lifestyle of sin. It's sin, just like thievery, drunkeness, scammers. Don't be deceived into thinking this is okay.
This is the warning given in God?s Word for all who sin. Including those who continue in the sin of homosexuality.

Read the Bible on these issues and trust the bible not a man who runs a website. Examine yourself to see if you are in the faith.

No one takes you seriously anymore
by: Rick Brentlinger

Like so many of your fellows, you are incapable of discussing what the Bible says in context. So you keep repeating your falsehoods, hoping someone somewhere will believe you.

You don't like being called a clown but it's okay to accuse me of living a lifestyle of sin? Your anti-gay schtick is tiresome. Perhaps it's time to find a new hobbyhorse.

Your church is an abomination
by: Andy & Dianne van den Berg

This gem arrived on July 17, 2011 and a number of other rather strange emails from Andy and Dianne arrived over the last few weeks. I'll not post the other emails but this gives a hint of the flavor of their angst. Thank God I don't have to try to make up stuff like this.

First Name: Andy & Dianne

Country: Canada

We have been sent to declare unto you that God has seen your works and it is an abomination to declare your church to be the house of God, while it is a place of darkness and wickedness and the Synagogue of Satan (Rev. 2:9).

At His appointed time he will bring His righteous judgment upon your house and when the time comes you will know that we were sent with a message of truth.

In His Service.

Filth
by: Anonymous

All the queers will go to Hell, God hates sin, and clearly states such. Quit picking and choosing what YOU want to believe. You will burn for all eternity. Queers are just filthy.

I hope you do get AIDS,as Satan will keep you for his own, and rightly so. You even look queer.

Narrow is the path, broad is the way, and you won't make it unless you repent!

Hey Anonymous - are you struggling with gay feelings?
by: Rick Brentlinger

Are you struggling with gay feelings yourself? Is that why you keep visiting a gay Christian website?

I hope you will keep visiting and reading and searching for God's truth. I hope you will continue to read and study and keep your heart open to what God has to show you.

You are greatly loved by God, Romans 5:1, so please do not allow folks to condemn you for things for which God does not condemn you.

Okay sweetie, you've had your fun so we won't be posting any more comments from you. I do hope you will work on your anger issues. If this website makes you angry, you should stop visiting this website.

I'm praying that you will get saved so God can bless you and fill your heart with His love. What you need right now is the peace of God which passes understanding.

I'll have to get fellow brothers to explain to you
by: T. Burkitt

First Name: TB

Country: United States

Your Comments*: God does not support homosexuality, and you being stupid and trying to get attention drawn to yourself by this and to FALSLY make people think they're going to Heaven, when they bought a one way ticket to Hell... Do you want that on YOUR hands...

read these verses because I am deeply concerned with what you have said. Matthew 7:21-23, Luke 13:24, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 These are only a few things to point out, and please feel free to email me, I do want to help you...

but I'm trying to do it scriptually and that is to confront you privately, next I'll have to get fellow brothers to explain to you, and then I have to make it a public problem to the churches that teach correctly.

Sep 12, 2011
Sorry if this is rude
by: Anonymous

I only have one thing to say to those who support homosexuality. God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve... If a person wants to believe they are saved and go to Hell because they were led astray by what Rick has to say, even though he'll say that i'm listening to man, which I'm not this is what I HAVE READ AND FIRMLY BELIEVE. If you want to risk your soul, that's fine, but I will still pray for you all, and please don't say you're my brother or sister unlsess you have been baptized for the forgiveness of your sins and repented (or trying to not sin HINT HINT) and confessed you believe that Jesus is the son of God.

Please do not believe everything you think
by: Rick Brentlinger

Jesus was full of grace and truth, John 1:14, yet never truthless in His grace nor graceless in His truth. Are we like Jesus in this respect?

On a personal note, I find it weird that the anti-gay crowd is so offended by God's truth and this website.

If you want to make a gay person angry, tell him a lie.

If you want to make an anti-gay christian angry, tell him the truth.

To anti-gay christians: you need to study more.

Get the facts first. Replace fear of the unknown with curiosity and a heart receptive to truth.

Do you just ignore this command by God?
by: Jerry

First Name: Jerry

Country: United States

Your Comments*: Gen 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Gen 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

Gen 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

It seems to me God's plan has from the beginning been for man and woman. How can a man and man or woman and woman multiply and fill the earth? Or do you just ignore this command by God?

Think Jerry, Think!
by: Rick Brentlinger

When God said Genesis 1:28 to Adam and Eve, there were only two people on earth. When God said Genesis 9:1 to Noah and his family, there were only eight people on earth. Today there are 7 billion people on earth.

Do you really believe that God's command to be fruitful and multiply has not been obeyed?

If you see that as a personal command to everyone on earth, how many children have you had? How many children must someone have to be able to say s(he) has met God's requirement? Are sterile men and women free to disobey God's command? Are celibate people free to disobey God's command?

Using Genesis 1:28 and 9:1 to prove that God is against gays and lesbians makes no sense, given that there are right now, more than 7 billion people on earth. It seems more like you're just trying to find a reason, any reason, to say something negative against gays and lesbians. Oh, by the way, many gays and lesbians do have children, both biological and adopted.

God bless you Jerry. I wish you a wonderful life and a deep inner knowledge that Jesus is your Lord and Savior.

Thankfully ignorance isn't contagious
by: Anonymous Bozo

I am so taken aback by this website and saddened at the same time. How can you say that homosexuality is okay with GOD? Many scriptures contradict what you are twisting to scratch your itchy little ears. It's nothing but trickery of Satan. He has come to steal, kill and destroy, and he would love to see each and every one of us in hell with him come the end times.

GOD created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve, and had he meant for the world to be that way, the world would definitely not be in existence now.
If you say you love GOD so much and are a Christian and going to Heaven, why do you not GO to GOD and ask him to cleanse you of this unforgivable sin then?

Repenting means to turn away from, you can't ask forgiveness and give yourself to GOD and then continue on in that sin and think you are going to get to Heaven. That is so false and GOD knows the heart of each and every one of us, he loves all of us, but he hates the sins.

And regardless of how you want to twist it, that bible plainly states what sins will send you straight to hell. GOD doesn't send people there, they send themselves, and you can quote scriptures all you want, but think you are just deceiving yourself. NO, I am not judging you, I am merely telling you what that Bible says.

I do it out of love, because it really hurts to know that people refuse to change their ways, even for GOD, the almighty! The bible says that it's hard for the righteous to reach heaven, what of the sinner? I don't feel I have to list scriptures as you and so many others feel you know the Bible and we obviously have it all wrong.

I don't add to, take away or twist the words of the Bible either. I do not know one Pastor, Preacher, Minister, Rabbi, etc. who preaches that homosexuality is okay with God, unless it happens to be a gay Pastor. Bottom line is, it's NOT okay with God. He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for man lying with man and woman straying from her natural relationship.

If being gay is okay, then this means that every sinner will go to heaven, right? So, let's all party and do what we want while here, and then we can go to Heaven, right? NOT! That is not the way it works at all, and if it were this simple, we'd all be able to do exactly as we please, live the life that pleases us and go to Heaven!

I am a sinner, everyone is a sinner and Jesus died for our sins, however, that doesn't make it okay, to go out, have fun and do what you want to do, then ask God to forgive you and turn right back around and repeat the same sin over and over again because in reality, you aren't really repenting from that sin, or you'd never do it again. Gonna have a lot of blood on your hands when the end times come.

Kudos on assimilating more error per square inch than most folks can manage. Your illogic is competing with your bigotry which competes with your lies which are competing with your ignorance of history which competently competes with your ignorance of scripture rightly divided.

I wish you God's best and a clearer understanding of God's truth as you walk the path of His purpose for your life.

There is an enormous difference between someone with an innate homosexual orientation, which they were born with according to Jesus, Matthew 19:11-12, and being a pedophile.

It may be helpful for you to read my page answering people who compare gay and lesbian relationships to having sex with animals. My answers to their vacuous mean-spirited moronic arguments also help to answer your unfounded belief.

Heartbroken
by: Matthew

Rick's comment: Matthew, I've responded to your first email online because you didn't give a real email address and my answer bounced back as undeliverable.

Concerning your remarks here, I marvel at your lack of Biblical knowledge. I encourage you to obey 2 Tim 2:15.

After stumbling upon this site, while searching for missionary stories, a deep sadness came over me. I know this is not to your liking, but it must be said. Do you not realize that pain you are causing Jesus by leading people astray? Please, look at the Bible in CONTEXT, as you yourself mentioned.

The penalty for sin is too great to be risked on self-deceit. I don't wish to say that your sin is worse than, say, a heterosexual couple fornicating. All sin is despicable. No one can be saved but by the grace of God. And what worries me is that you are telling yourself, and misleading others to believe, that a life of unrepentant sin is OK.

Rick's comment: The arrogance of your false accusation is mind-boggling. Didn't you ever memorize Ephesians 4:25? Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

This is not meant to be hateful. Quite the contrary. It would be hateful for me to not attempt to point you in the direction of the Truth. Please, even if you choose to remain in your lifestyle, please oh please stop taking others with you. The price is too great; your eternal soul.

And on the issue, You are covering hurt. The problem is you're heart is hard. You won't forgive
or acknowledge and forgive your offender. In a subtile way you're milking the offense to enjoy pleasure for a season. Hell is hot and God is no respect of persons. Your deeds is what he goes by.

You're living in sin under a delusion. The core is hurt and bitterness. So. Appreciate the great love God has given in giving his son in spite of our degredation, say Father I WAS WRONG. and get on with the battle, the best is yet to come. If I find subtility yet in you though you
haven't replied then, I cannot reply.

Rick's comment: I have no idea what Barry is talking about. From time to time people send me incomprehensible emails and some of them end up here. Pray for Barry.

I hope you're having a great day!

Rick's comment: This sad exchange began on March 29, 2012 after almost three years of the Good Person tract being on this website with Ray Comfort's express permission.

Your Comments*: Hi,

I hope you're having a great day!

I am from Living Waters, the ministry of Ray Comfort. You have posted our "Good Person Test" and a video of Ray witnessing under your "How to Witness" page. While I am grateful for anyone wanting to spread the gospel and love their neighbor as themselves, we cannot endorse the sin of homosexuality, as your website does. I request you remove any mention of Living Waters and/or any videos, tracts, or articles relating to Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron, or our ministry.

I have no doubt you have the most wonderful of motives behind this website, and that I do sincerely applaud, but Scripture is very clear about homosexuality being a sin and we do not want to be associated with anything that contradicts Scripture.

I would heartily encourage you to visit Exodus International’s website at www.exodusinternational.org to get more scriptural conclusions to the questions and studies in your menu bar. I write this sincerely as a friend and as someone who cares about you. I wish you the very best and sincerely hope you further study out the Scriptures on this critical issue.

Sincerely,
Allen Atzbi

Ray Comfort gave permission to post his tract
by: Rick Brentlinger

Hi Allen-

Thanks for writing to me. Before posting the Good Person tract on my website several years ago, I wrote to Ray and requested permission. Ray gave me permission to post the tract on my website, via Julie, his executive assistant, who answered my email request and relayed Ray's permission.

At the bottom of the page on which the tract appears, is a note that it is posted with kind permission of LivingWaters.com and pointing out that we do not agree on everything but that we agree that soul-winning is wise. In the several years the Good Person tract has been on my website, I've had about a dozen people write to let me know they got saved.

I should also point out that in my request for permission to post the tract on my website, I included a link to my website so that it was clear from the beginning that my website takes a different view on gays than Living Waters. The point is that I did not post the tract on my own, simply disregarding Living Waters' rights.

I requested and received permission from Ray to post it on my website. Julie relayed Ray's okay, granting permission and also pointing out that her brother is gay, that she and Ray and others from Living Waters have witnessed to him and asking me to pray for his salvation.

You may not be aware of it but there are a number of gay and lesbian Christians who have taken the Evangelism course, who use Living Waters and similar tracts and who witness and win souls on a regular basis.

If your email to me is because Ray has personally told you he changed his mind and has instructed you to relay his request that we remove the tract from the website, of course I will remove it. If you have simply assumed, wrongly, that I posted the tract without receiving permission and you are asking me to remove it without consulting Ray, I do think the honorable thing to do on your part is to check with Ray first to see if he has indeed changed his mind so that I will know the request to remove it comes directly from him.

I very sincerely care about you as a person
by: Allen Atzbi of Living Waters

Hi Rick,

I’m sorry for not writing back sooner! I really appreciate your kindly toned response and you taking the time to explain everything out.

I oversee all the permission requests for TV, radio, internet, print, etc. here at the ministry. At the time you wrote us no doubt we were smaller and many people wore multiple hats and in the rush to try and do much for God’s kingdom occasionally things fell through the cracks or didn’t get the attention they deserved. In zeal to get the gospel to as many as possible, I fear we rushed in too quickly with our original permission request.

You are free to keep our resources posted under the condition that you include the following disclaimer:

“These resources have been posted with permission from Living Waters, upon clearly stating that their organization completely agrees with the Bible’s teaching that homosexuality is a sin, and that homosexuals will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Living Waters unmistakably believes that it is a contradiction for someone who claims to be a homosexual, or who practices homosexuality, to also claim that they are a Christian. All homosexuals must repent and place their faith in Christ in order to receive forgiveness and everlasting life.”

I apologize that when permission was originally granted a clearer disclaimer, as above, was not included. If you are not willing to include the above disclaimer, we would ask that you remove all reference to our ministry from your website.

On a side-note, apart from the permission request: I very sincerely care about you as a person, and love gay people as much as I would love any person caught up in any kind of sin and hope you can see the Bible’s clear message on the subject. I pastored for several years before coming aboard Living Waters, and met many people who had struggled with same-sex attraction. I realize that desire is not something you or the people who frequent your website chose. Few would choose a desire that would ostracize them or make them feel different. I realize it is a natural desire, however, not every natural desire is right.

I have been asked, “Was I born gay?” And the quick answer is in a sense, yes… we were all born with a sinful nature that naturally inclines people toward sin. Some incline toward stealing more than others, some anger and rage, some adultery or fornication, some have great struggles with lying, and some with homosexuality.

The strong temptation never means that’s how God designed you to be or that you were meant to act on it. An objective view of Scripture teaches that God calls homosexuality sin, and God longs to break us free from sin not bring us into bondage to it. If you have any questions or if I can be of any help or if you just want to talk about it, please don’t hesitate to write back. I sincerely wish you the very best. I am praying for you.

You did not answer the specific question I asked
by: Rick Brentlinger

Hi Allen-

Thanks for getting back to me. Your reply does not answer the specific question I asked, which follows.

In plainer words, have you personally checked with Ray on this particular issue or are you taking it upon yourself to make the removal request, without checking with Ray?

Your brother in Christ,

Rick Brentlinger

No, I haven't spoken with Ray Comfort
by: Allen Atzbi of Living Waters

Hi Rick,

No, I haven’t spoken with Ray, and for practical ministry reasons I cannot make plans to. This has nothing to do with you, but rather with guarding Ray’s focus. Ray gets a very large volume of requests and emails on a daily basis, if he attempted to answer them each personally we couldn’t move forward as a ministry. Such requests and assistance and follow-ups are part of the reason why we have added additional staff.

As Ray oversees a large ministry, I have a responsibility before God to protect his time and allow him to focus on the things only he can do. I oversee the department you would need to receive permission from; if you called or emailed today, it would not go to Ray or his assistant, it would come directly and only to me.

Since you mentioned this did originally involve Ray (at a time in our ministry when the President/CEO/Leader was personally handing requests — while managing a multitude of other tasks, unable to give the quality time and reflection needed for a lengthy disclaimer), I did go the extra mile to speak with our Executive Vice President specifically about this situation.

He read our email correspondence before we spoke. We both agreed on the disclaimer previously sent. That is the final stance our ministry has on the issue. I would heartily hope you respect our ministry’s decision and with integrity honor it.

This situation makes me very sad
by: Rick Brentlinger

Hi Allen-

As I understand it, Ray is the founder of Living Waters. He gave me permission to use the tract and to my knowledge and according to what you have written to me, Ray has not changed his mind or rescinded his permission.

In spite of those facts, you, and now EZ (Ray's son in law, if memory serves), have taken it upon yourselves to rescind Ray's permission without consulting Ray, without bringing him into the discussion.

Having rescinded Ray's permission without bothering to ask him if that is what he wants, you now frame it as an issue of integrity, that I must go along with you in rescinding Ray's permission and removing the Good Person tract, without telling Ray or I can agree to an onerous and factually incorrect anti-gay statement on my website.

"That is the final stance our ministry has on the issue. I would heartily hope you respect our ministry’s decision and with integrity honor it."

This situation makes me very sad. As I see it, I have a third choice which you did not mention: to accept the faithfulness of Ray's word and stick with Ray's permission until he notifies me that he has changed his mind (or I can allow you to countermand Ray's decision without telling him).

For me, integrity requires that I trust Ray's word that it's okay to use the Good Person tract on my website.

Your brother in Christ,

Rick Brentlinger

This is now coming directly from Ray Comfort
by: Allen Atzbi of Living Waters

Hi Rick,

I’m sorry for taking a while to reply. We’ve been extremely busy around the ministry.

To follow up with you, Emeal Zwayne (EZ), our Executive Vice President, spoke directly with Ray about this matter and read him the statement that must be posted if you are to keep the tract on your site. Ray wholeheartedly supports our decision and this has now become his own official request. This is now coming directly from Ray.

However, Ray has requested that 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 be added to the end of the statement. So here is how it now must read:

“These resources have been posted with permission from Living Waters, upon clearly stating that their organization completely agrees with the Bible’s teaching that homosexuality is a sin, and that homosexuals will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Living Waters unmistakably believes that it is a contradiction for someone who claims to be a homosexual, or who practices homosexuality, to also claim that they are a Christian. All homosexuals must repent and place their faith in Christ in order to receive forgiveness and everlasting life. –1 Corinthians 6:9-10”

If you do not wish to post this along with our resources (at every place they are posted), we ask you to remove all resources or references to our ministry resources from your site.

Thank you.

I have removed the Good Person tract from our website
by: Rick Brentlinger

Hi Allen-

Thanks for getting back to me. This is a most disappointing situation. What you, EZ and Ray Comfort are doing, in effect, is making a decision to intentionally withhold the glorious gospel of Christ from the gay community.

Our website is the largest conservative gay Christian website on earth. We reach more than 45,000 people in 180 countries each month with the life-saving gospel of Christ.

Having the Good Person tract on our website, (with Ray's permission until now), resulted in about 12 people getting saved, who took the time to let us know they got saved. The real results are undoubtedly much greater because many people who get saved through a website witness never bother to write.

From the disclaimer you guys wrote, it is clear that none of you has bothered to study 1 Cor 6:9 in context. It is odd that from a position of relative ignorance, you seem so sure you are right and we are wrong.

Nevertheless, at Ray Comfort's request (as relayed by you), I have removed the Good Person tract from our website. I have not removed the YouTube videos since those are freely available for anyone to display.

Your unkind attitude and the unkind attitude of Living Waters saddens me but it has also been instructive. The lack of spiritual discernment you've shown, the lack of Christian grace and the incredible animosity of Living Waters and Way of the Master toward the gay community is discouraging. My prayer for you, EZ and Ray Comfort is:

Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.

You are going straight to HELL!!!!!!!!
by: Nathanael

First Name: Nathanael

Country: United States

Your Comments: I am very sad that you are this confused. Just reading your website makes me want to vomit as does God. In the Bible where GOD destroys Sodom and Gomorrah,it states exactly that the men of sodom, also know as sodomites, wanted to know the two male angels carnally.

If you don't know what carnally means,it means sex. In this case homosexual sex. Ok lets say sodomites are not homosexuals,it clearly states in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10,that sodomites are on the same level as homosexuals.

Neither are going to heaven. Sorry buddy but unless you turn from your wiked ways, you are going straight to HELL!!!!!!!

Rick's comment: Ignorance is not a fruit of the Spirit, Nathanael. As you grow in the Lord, I believe you will be less strident and more scriptural in your approach to God's truth.

Would you review my book?
by: Mark Green

First Name: Mark

Country: United States

Your Comments: Rick, Blessings to you for what you are doing for the Kingdom. I would appreciate your consideration in reviewing my book: "Here am I. Don't Send Me! A Personal Revolution"— endorsed by Pastor David L. Thomas, lead pastor of one of the largest AG churches in the country.

The text from the back cover of the book may help you determine if this is a book you'd be willing to take a look at. I appreciate your time!

Evangelism? Witnessing? Never! No way!

Those were author Mark Green's sentiments as a follower of Christ. For 20 years, he remained convinced that personal evangelism was for others and would not—could not—ever be for him! But a personal revolution took place, thrusting him into a year-long commitment to share the Gospel every day.

In this book, Mark takes you on his personal journey from an introverted, silent Christian to daily witness.

He provides practical instruction for sharing the Gospel with anyone and candidly shares his own fears, struggles, and failures as a witness for Christ. Packed with dozens of real-life conversations and down-to-earth commentary from his experiences speaking with thousands of people, his insights will help you overcome the excuses and hesitations many have about Jesus' final instructions to believers, while exposing what is missing from many churches—a passion for the lost.

Discover for yourself just how "ripe" the harvest still is, and experience the exhilaration of seeing someone's eyes opened to the Good News.

Will anyone come into the Kingdom because they ran across you?

Homosexuality is sin
by: Mark Green

First Name: Mark
http://www.istreetwitness.com
Country: United States

Your Comments: My comments to you were misdirected (and I mean no malice). I spoke WAY too soon before seeing what you were about. I honestly thought the title of your website was supposed to be an eye-grabber of some sort. The landing page I came across was about evangelism and street ministry and specifically what caught my eye was your Way of the Master clips and use of the 10 commandments. (that's me...all the way).

I believe the Bible teaches (and this is what I teach as well as WOTM) that homosexuality is sin, not the appetite perhaps, but the living out of it. Just like my appetite for women is not wrong (even though its strong). I WANT to look etc. But the moment I lust; the moment I have relations outside the bounds of a God sanctioned, biblical marriage between a man and a woman, I have sinned.

I'm not here to debate with you, mostly just to say (with egg on my face) that I jumped the gun in thanking you for what you are doing for the kingdom. IF you are teaching that living in homosexual relationships is ok by the word of God, I couldn't disagree with you more.

I'm asking that you kindly honor my request not to post either of my comments on your website. Thank you. I wish you THE BEST that God has for you.

Rick's comment: I published your comments because I believe it is dishonest to hold the anti-gay views you hold and to make comments like you make and then try to keep your views secret.

I don't mean this in a snarky way
by: Mark Green

Rick, (I don't mean this in a snarky way) I'm not a Biblical scholar, but I feel its very very safe siding with multiple centuries of consistent scholarly interpretation of the Bible on this issue—from every denomination and Christian bent. You just simply don't have anyone of noteworthiness standing with you on your side. (again, sounds snarky if you read it that way, but that's absolutely not my intention).

The Spirit bears witness in me (and in you as well). The law of God is written on every man's heart. Our conscience tells us what's right and what's wrong. The obvious physical design of man and woman and what happens when the two become one flesh tells us what's right and proper. Romans 1 says that you are "suppressing the truth in unrighteousness".

Just as it can be really wrong to go along with the crowd (Mat. 7:13-14). I pray you give this some thought. It's also really unwise to be standing (virtually) all by yourself, taking the stance, "We're right and everybody else is wrong". The (scholarly) burden of proof is on you. I sincerely pray that the Truth will set you free. Blessings, Mark Green

Rick's comment: My thoughtful fact-based answer to Mark Green.

I can tell you are closed on this issue
by: Mark Green

Sorry but this will prove to be unsuccessful on your part. And by your lengthy reply, I can tell that you are also closed on the issue.

Sincerely, Mark Green

Rick's comment: You refuse to discuss it but I'm the one who is closed on this issue? No problem, I understand Mark. Sadly, I understand.
