Our Ethos - We Affirm The Radiant Biblical Christianity Of Gay And Lesbian Believers
Our Ethos - We affirm that gay and lesbian Christians are not spiritually compromised in any way. We reject the view that gay and lesbian Christians are defiled, perverted, sick, second-class or sub-standard. We affirm that gay and lesbian Christians fill an important role witnessing the transforming power of the gospel in the gay community. As Paul wrote in Romans 1:16,17a: ‘I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes... For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last.’ Gay and lesbian Christians exercise spiritual gifts and abilities from God which are sorely needed in the body of Christ. These include the normal gifts of the Spirit which equip believers for service, I Corinthians 12, as well as Christian charity, love in action, as described in I Corinthians 13.
We affirm God’s amazing grace, that God is at work in the gay and lesbian community, saving the lost, transforming hearts and minds, conforming us to the image of Christ. As vibrant, grace-filled gay and lesbian Christians, the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God, Romans 8:16. We affirm a special empathy and love for our gay brothers and lesbian sisters. Our hearts desire and prayer to God is that they might be saved and know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, Romans 10:1, Ephesians 3:19. We affirm our Ethos and our strongly held belief that as gay and lesbian Christians grow in grace and knowledge, our lives will not be characterized by sin but will reflect the holiness and power of God. As Bible believing gay and lesbian Christians we live by faith, because ‘Anything that does not proceed from faith is sin,’ Romans 14:23b. Born again gays and lesbians, with our distinctively Christian Ethos, are uniquely empowered at this time in God's redemptive plan, to bring the light of the glorious gospel of Christ to the secular gay world, witnessing Jesus’ powerful message of salvation and hope for every GLBT.
